ABOUT — studio lalos

Hi! My name is Larisha, I’m an illustrator based in The Hague, The Netherlands. My passion for illustration has always been there. As a little girl I used all the materials my grandma used with her paintings which gave me so much inspiration. She saw the little artist in me from a young age. So from that moment forward I couldn’t live without my pencils and watercolors anymore. Right now I’m trying to find my way working with pastels, color pencils, watercolor. Lately I've been loving digital drawing as well, so I'm trying to mix all kinds of media in one piece. My inspiration has always been portraits, I find them so fascinating and relaxing to draw. It’s my meditation. Besides portraits I love to paint animals, plants and flowers (I got that from my grandma). Next to my passion for illustration, I love to spend time on visual design and art education to teach the little kids.

With the trainings Graphic Design at Grafisch Lyceum and Fine Art & Design Teacher Training at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam I want to explore more of the creative art sector.

For me, illustration is more than just an artwork. It’s a feeling. It’s a feeling you get inside when you make something that is so precious. Because it is. Most of the time I’m inspired by people, cause we’re something unique on this planet. Every single one of you is special in their own way. And we all have something beautiful to give. We all have our own souls that is so different from each other and I think we can learn a lot from it. So with my drawings all I want is for you is to feel empowered, beautiful, happy and inspired.

We live in a world where we’re being judged based of our looks. This can be by the colour of your skin, your size, your sexual preferences or based of your imperfections. And the thing is, we all have imperfections and it’s beautiful because it’s the way you are. You do not need to change for someone else. So with that being said, let’s make the world a happier place. Starting with my drawings which I hope would make you feel embrace yourself a bit more and take a little happiness with you after seeing my artworks.

Next to all of this, my second most inspiring things are flowers and plants. I mean, how can you not right? These are such beautiful creatures on earth and never let you down. It’s honestly the perfect thing for me to paint to feel at ease.
